I review the beers I drink

Goose Island – Bourbon County Brand Backyard Stout 2023

Flashlight does not show through, no head retention, smells of caramel, honey, and a hint of raspberry jam. The taste is sweet and fruity with flavors of raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, lingonberry, strawberry, cherry cola, milk chocolate, and sweet cream on a smooth, extra thick body. The finish is long and moderately low in bitterness, featuring notes of dark chocolate, black cherry, oak, vanilla, herbal hops, coffee, and a pinot noir. Overall, this one is quite good, a natural progression from the 2023 base with its chocolate covered fruit notes, but amplified by sweet jammy berries, not unlike a nice fruity red wine.
