I review the beers I drink

Freixenet – Ice Cuvee Cava

So I had the Cordon Negro Brut last year, not sure why I didn’t review it (perhaps because I don’t own a champagne flute so I’m using my pilsner glass here), but I found that one to be too dry and one dimensional for my preference, so I picked up this bottle of semi-sweet “Ice Cava” meant to be poured over ice.

Anyway, pours with just the slightest straw color; smells of white grape juice and champagne. The taste is lightly sweet and fruity with flavors of pear, green apple, hard apple cider, and a touch of ginger ale on a medium, highly effervescent body. The finish is light with no real tannins or bitterness, featuring notes of green apple, pear, lemon zest, and vanilla cream. Overall, this wine is very enjoyable, much more so than the brut in my opinion, and kinda blurs the like between champagne and Asti. I of course had to try it without the ice and it’s a bit more floral and aromatic, with a richer overall flavor, I wouldn’t even say better, just more intense.

ABV:11.5%
IBU:
Malts:Macabeo, Xarel•lo, Parellada, & "a touch of Chardonnay" grapes
Other:"Metodo Tradicional" Secondary Fermentation
Yeast:Sparkling Wine
