I review the beers I drink

90+ – Lot 26 Barolo 2019

If Barbaresco is the “Queen of Italian Wine”, then Barolo is the King. Also a Nebbiolo wine from just a few miles southwest of the Barbaresco DOCG. Smells of leather, pipe tobacco, black cherry and old books. The taste is dry and meaty with flavors of steak, tomato paste, cherry, and plum on an astringent full body. The finish is long and dry with a mild acidity and featuring notes of raspberry, grape leaves, leather, tobacco, and forest floor. Overall, this is a fabulously balanced, structured, and complex red; bold and meaty and intense in all the right ways, and the perfect companion to ossobuchi con risotto alla milanese.
