The imperial version of AAAlterrr Ego! and/or the extra hopped version of Doppelganger.
Supremely hazy, but not murky, and with light head retention, smells of papaya, mango, grapefruit, and pine. The taste is crisp and surprisingly bright, with flavors of orange juice, ripe papaya, mango, guava, grapefruit, pineapple, and lemon on a thick and chewy body. The finish is long and moderately bitter, featuring notes of grapefruit, cantaloupe, lemon zest, pine, lime peel, and a base of floral and herbal hops. Overall, this beer showcases the magic of Tree House perfectly; it’s hoppier, but in every way, both in bitterness and in juiciness and on my first sip I was honestly overwhelmed by how much was going on, this beer is absolutely incredible.
Canned on: 2/25/21 “TWICE AS NICE”
This is also re-reviewed from when I first had this beer on 11/20/19, as I wanted a second chance at. Below is the original review:
Doubleganger… as in a double Doppelganger (and therefore quadruple Alter Ego)? Well it’s only 0.2% higher ABV, so kind of like a DDDoppelgangerrr? I’m not really sure to be honest.
Very hazy with light head retention, smells of the same papaya, pine, and citrus as Doppel but perhaps a tad stronger? The taste is a bit more leafy and less spicy, but still bready with citrus undertones; body is medium. The finish is long and low to moderate in bitterness with the same pine, herbal, and citrus hop notes, although the pine is a lot more resinous. Overall it’s very similar to the Doppel, but I’d say a little less intense and overall slightly more drinkable. As always though, any Tree House is worth buying.
