I review the beers I drink

Santi – Ventale Valpolicella Superiore 2017

“Superiore” means it has been aged in wood for at least one year and is stronger in ABV than a novello. Smells of black cherry, chocolate covered strawberry, and subtle oak. The taste is jammy and tart with flavors of blackberry, plum, black cherry, and strawberry on an astringent medium body. The finish is long and moderately dry with a medium acidity, featuring notes of raspberry, leather, pipe tobacco, cranberry, rhubarb, and forest floor. Overall, this is a wonderfully fruity, jammy, and exquisitely balanced red wine, with just a hint of oak to round out the edges.
