An experiment I’m doing in which I try a bottle of the same vintage BCBS each year for five years. Here is the original review, and last year’s.
Flashlight does not show through, head retention is minimal, smells of bourbon, black coffee, toasted wheat bread, and chocolate. The taste is rich and slightly sweet, with flavors of cordial cherry, chocolate milk, German chocolate cake, and plum on a silky smooth full body. The finish is long and moderately high in bitterness, featuring notes charred oak, bourbon, dark chocolate, vanilla cavendish pipe tobacco, and black coffee. Overall, it’s quite fascinating to see how only after 2 years nearly all the fruitiness is gone and the bitterness continues to increase along with the chocolate presence.
