I review the beers I drink

Goose Island – Bourbon County Brand Stout 2023 (Aged 1 Year in Bottle)

I was gifted a couple extra bottles of the 2023 BCBS, and it’s still available at stores near me, so I figured I might as well try this one every year to see how it develop; here’s last year’s review freshly bottled.

Flashlight is unable to penetrate this beer, smells of cherry, chocolate, and fig. The taste is rich and fruity with flavors of cordial cherries, fig, raisin, and mocha cappuccino on a smooth, extra thick body. The finish is long and moderately bitter, featuring notes of dark chocolate, espresso, vanilla, charred oak, and bourbon. Overall, it seems to have mellowed out slightly over the past year, losing some of its fruity notes and developing bolder notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and bourbon barrel. Definitely excited to see what more time does for this one.
