Flashlight shows deep ruby tones and a bit of haziness to this beer, minimal head retention. Smells of sweet, roasty, caramelized malts and coffee, taste is heavy malt base with a subtle sweetness and extremely thick body and notes of smoke and coffee. This leads to a cool effect where the moderately bitter herbal hop and coffee finish actually creates a smoky campfire aromatic finish in your nose. Overall, it’s well balanced, the alcohol is hidden extremely well, and though it affects sessionability slightly, it has probably the thickest mouthfeel of any beer I’ve had and that alone is kinda cool and worth revisiting.
