So the original Double Shot is currently the #1 Stout on BeerAdvocate. This is a new version made with an in house custom espresso blend called Paragon, so I would expect this to be even better.
Flashlight shows nothing at all, minimal head retention, smells of coffee, chocolate, and a hint of roasted malt. The taste is sweet, with flavors of sweet cream and caramel leading into smooth roasted coffee, chocolate, and smoke on a thick, creamy body. The finish is long and low in bitterness, with light herbal hops taking a back seat to the roasty, smoky, savory coffee grand finale. Overall, this is a decadent beer; a beer that kinda ruins all other stouts for me because they just can’t compare. Words can’t express how good this beer truly is. As the bottom of the can instructs, “Sip. Reflect. Repeat.” and so I shall.
