I review the beers I drink

Tree House – Doppelganger

The imperial version of Alter Ego.

Very hazy and very murky with light head retention, smells of grapefruit, pine, papaya, and lemon. The taste is dense and tropical with flavors of ripe papaya, pineapple, tangerine, mango, lime, and peach on a thick and chewy full body. The finish is long and low to moderate in bitterness, featuring notes of grapefruit, cantaloupe, lime peel, apricot, lemon zest and floral hops. Overall, this is a bold, heavy beer, but it is absolutely bursting with juicy and complex hop flavor. This is a top level Tree House beer, a must try.

So this is actually a re-review, I first had Doppelganger about a year and a half ago on 11/20/19, and just felt I’ve improved since then and I have a new context to review having had Alter Ego and AAAlterrr Ego! last night. Nevertheless, I have preserved my original review below for posterity:

Ok, so this is the “doppel” version of Alter Ego (yet another on the long list of Tree House brews I need to try). Anyway, very hazy with light head retention, smells of papaya, citrus, and pine. The taste is bready and a bit spicy up front with some citrusy undertones and soft but full body. The finish is long but moderate in bitterness with pine, herbal, and citrus hop notes. Overall, it’s another amazing IPA from Tree House, what else can I say?
