I review the beers I drink

Thai Brewing Co. – Muay Thai IPA

I’ve never heard of this brewery and they apparently aren’t listed on BeerAdvocate, but I came across them when searching for actual Thai beers (these were contract brewed by Bay Life Brewing in Jessup, MD) and decided to give them a shot.

First this I notice about this beer is the color; it is a bright, unnatural shade of orange, very similar to the color of Thai tea actually, and with lots of sedimentary gunk floating around. Head retention is minimal, it smells of herbal hops, pine, and subtle papaya. The taste is crisp and lightly fruity with flavors of wheat crackers, dried papayas, dried banana, apricot and tangerine on a coarsely carbonated full body. The finish is long and moderately bitter, featuring notes of orange peel, pine, herbal hops, subtle vanilla, and seltzer water. Overall, it’s not a bad IPA, crisp and clean with a very subtle but intriguing fruitiness; I just can’t figure out how it got this weird color…
