I review the beers I drink

Surly – Coffee Bender

Lightly hazy with light head retention, smells of black coffee, dark chocolate, and smoked malts. The taste is crisp and smoky with flavors of dark roast coffee, charred biscuits, dark chocolate, and a hint of caramel on a full body. The finish is long and moderately low in bitterness, featuring notes of coffee, dark chocolate, herbal hops, and smoke. Overall, it’s a solid brown ale taken to the next level with a shot of coffee and the end result lives up to Surly’s “abrasive” nature but also smooth and sessionable.
