I review the beers I drink

Sam Adams – Coffee Black Lager

Apparently the black lager I already love, but with coffee added! Flashlight shows a clear, deep mahogany color, head retention is minimal. Smells of coffee, sweet cream, and faint smoke. Taste is moderately sweet, flavors of coffee and cream, backed by a creamy smooth, medium body. The finish is crisp and dry, with a low bitterness and herbal hop flavor that fades quickly into a light residual smokiness. Overall, this is a great beer, the coffee is noticeable, and the sweetness is a little higher than I remember in the normal black lager, but both are still balanced with the smoky malts and subtle hops to make a for new experience that’s just as rewarding.
