Dave Drinks Beer

I review the beers I drink

Red Shed – The Local

Was given a couple 32oz Boston Rounds of beer from a small brewery in central NY to review.

Clear with light head retention, smells of roasted hazelnut, caramel, and toasted bread. The taste is malty and light with flavors of predominantly toasted biscuits and caramel, as well as soft hints of fig, coffee, chocolate, and smoke underneath on a light, kinda watery mouth feel. The finish is long and low in bitterness, featuring notes of caramel, roasted grains, a hint of herbal hops, and water. Overall, I don’t think I’ve ever actually had this style before, I like the strong malt flavors, just wish the overall beer was a little bit stronger to feel more balanced and less watered down. Perhaps that is the style, and the end result is effortlessly drinkable and indeed very sessionable with it’s low ABV.
