Ommegang – Double Chocolate Three Philosophers

Very hazy and lightly murky with light head retention, smells of chocolate, the brown bread from Cheesecake Factory, and raisins. The taste is rich and decadent with flavors of fudgy chocolate, toasted wheat biscuits, molasses, caramel, maraschino cherries and chocolate graham crackers on a smooth full body. The finish is long and moderately low in bitterness, featuring notes of dark chocolate, cold brew coffee, milk chocolate, subtle herbal hops and a hint of cordial cherry. Overall this is extraordinarily good, I reviewed the original Three Philosophers half a decade ago, but I also had a 5oz pour just a week ago at the brewery, and this just takes everything that’s great about it and amplifies it, smooths it all out, and turns the chocolate up to 11!
