I review the beers I drink

New Belgium – Voodoo Ranger IPA

So, I had this beer several years ago and thoroughly disliked it and was kinda turned off from the Voodoo Ranger series as a result, but I never actually reviewed it, and my palate has certainly matured since then, so here we go.

Clear with decent head retention, smells of mango, papaya, pineapple, and a hint of garlic. The taste is crisp and citrusy with a toasted bread character up front and notes of orange blossom, honey, and lemongrass. The finish is long and moderately bitter, featuring notes of lime zest, herbal, and pine hops. Overall, it’s better than I remember, though still a bit unbalanced for my taste, the citrusy hop notes are nice, but the herbal and pine could be dialed back a bit.
