I was not a fan of the regular Voodoo Ranger when it came out, I thought it was way too unbalanced, but I’m willing to give this IIPA/DIPA a shot.
Hazy with thin head retention, smells of heavy wet hops: floral, citrus, and pine. Taste is a thick bready malt base and body with a huge juicy hop character on top. Juicy citrus notes with a medium bitterness fade into a dry, resinous, high bitterness finish. The malt bill is better balanced on this beer, and the hops are surprisingly complex in their diversity. Also of note, is the extremely well hidden alcohol in this beer, making it a definite beer to revisit on a rainy day.
