New Belgium – The Sun Trip

The Sun Trip, by NB brewer Stephanie Palladino, 9oz Trippel and 3oz Fat Tire Belgian White. Lightly hazy with minimal head retention, smells of doughy malt and funky Belgian yeast, with subtle spices underneath. The taste is earthy and funky, yeast is the star of the show here, with the whole gamut of Belgian flavors on display, matched to a thick, full body. The finish is moderately bitter, very hoppy with notes of floral, herbal, and citrus, and a clean fade out with some residual yeasty flavors. Overall, a nice added level of complexity for the trippel, a splash of witbier really livens up the brew and increases drinkability.
