I review the beers I drink

New Belgium – Fat Tire Belgian White

So I picked up this cool New Belgium “Blend Like a Brewer” pack, 2 each of 6 styles, plus a booklet on how to blend them. So, for the next 4 evenings I will do 3 reviews, each of the beers themselves and each of the blends.

Anyway, this is super hazy with almost no head retention, smells of soft doughy malts and light banana and clove aromas one would expect from a witbier, perhaps a little acidity underneath. The taste is very lightly sweet, but zesty and and bright with notes of citrus and subtle peppery spices and a light but highly effervescent mouthfeel. The finish is very clean and citrusy with virtually no bitterness and a very subtle astringency. Overall, it’s a witbier, but with a very refreshing citrus character that really makes this beer stand out, and it’s very sessionable which is hard for an unfiltered beer to accomplish.
