I review the beers I drink

New Belgium – Abbey

Flashlight shows a hazy burnt orange color and head retention is excellent, smells of toffee and fruits, fig and raisin come to mind, with a subtle Belgian yeast funk and a little booziness. The taste is of dark chocolate and roasted malts, with some funky, spicy notes from the yeast and a medium body. The finish is moderately bitter with residual savory smoke and chocolate notes from the malts melding with the spicy, herbal hops. Overall, a very cool beer, dark and warm, but also with some Belgian flair, makes for an incredibly complex, rewarding drinking experience, with a boozy kick as an added bonus!
