An “East Coast version of a West Coast-style IPA,” named after a whale that is annually sighted off the coast of Maine with a distinctive bite mark on her tailfin.
Lightly hazy with great head retention, smells of grapefruit, lemon zest, and floral hops. The taste is crisp and bready upfront with loads of citrus and pineapple underneath, perhaps a hint of cantaloupe, on a smooth, full body. The finish is long but low to moderate in bitterness, featuring citrus zest, floral, and soft pine hop notes. Overall, this is a fantastic beer, featuring a perfect balance between malt and hops, absolutely worth the effort to get it if you can.
