Flashlight shows an intense dark ruby color, head retention is thin. Smells of vanilla with subtle notes of roasted malt and chocolate underneath. The taste is semi-sweet with notes of dark chocolate and black cherry and a subtle smoky flavor paired to a medium body. The finish is dry and smoky, low to moderate bitterness with classic herbal hops and a faint hint of vanilla. Overall, the vanilla really isn’t all that noticeable outside the aroma, however it is a good winter time beer, well balanced and sessionable.
