Hazy with light head retention, smells of caramel and toffee, with subtle hints of hops; somewhat similar to the Dubbel. The taste is also similar, perhaps sweeter, with a malty base of caramel, toffee, stone fruit, and subtle Belgian yeast notes matched to a smooth full body. The finish is mild and very low in bitterness, with notes of spicy and herbal hops blending with residual malts and yeasty funk. Overall, it was the world’s first Quad and while I personally am not sure what makes it different from a dubbel, I do like it a lot, perhaps more than the dubbel.
