I review the beers I drink

Hendrick’s & Fever Tree – Grand Cabaret & Tonic

I know, I know, I’m supposed to garnish with cucumber, but I didn’t have one and I honestly feel like lime works better in this case. Smells of tangerine, stone fruits, and lavender. The taste is sweet and jammy with flavors of plum, Concord grape, strawberry, and pear. The finish is long and jammy, featuring notes of cranberry, blueberry, orange blossom, lime peel, vanilla, and subtle juniper. Overall, this is a cool gin, very bright and summery with very few piney juniper notes make it extremely approachable.

A martini (5:1, stirred, lime twist) is bright and extra jammy; surprisingly quaffable!

A gimlet is tart and fruity with cranberry, peach, and apricot notes rounding out the lime. Remarkably good!

A martinez is sweet with a dry finish, very prominent apricot notes. It occurs to me that this gin should work quite well in any genever recipe.

A negroni has fruity and floral notes upfront before succumbing to the bitter herbal finish.

On a whim, I decided to try a Cape Cod with this gin in place of the vodka, the result is fruity and complex, but seems unbalanced and muddled…
