Very dense haze, very minimal head retention. Smells of sweet bananas, almost like a banana pudding, with a little alcohol underneath. Tastes, honestly a lot like a Guinness Stout: sweet, creamy malt with an equally thick and creamy mouthfeel, identical to the stout, and roughly the same hop flavor and intensity, with a tad more yeasty flavors and a touch of wheat in the back before the crisp dry finish. I honestly like this a lot, they basically took their stout recipe and tweaked it into a hefe, with cool results. The other bottles in this pack just weren’t bold enough in their adaptations, but this one pulls off the reserved nature of Irish brewing perfectly and shows a masterful balance between the hops, the malts AND the yeast.
