Granite Roots – Rootlet 15: Milkshake IPA

I’ve never had a so-called “Milkshake IPA” before, but I always love weird beers so I’m excited.

Clear ruby red with minimal head retention, smells of raspberry, with perhaps some dark cherry underneath. The taste is crisp and neutral overall, slightly wheaty with a raspberry sweetness in the background and a creamy thick mouthfeel. The finish is short and dry with very low bitterness, and just a hint of spicy and herbal hops. Overall, it tastes like a raspberry pilsner with a thicker body; not bad, not particularly reminiscent of a milkshake in my opinion, but still tasty and refreshing.
