Goose Island – Bourbon County Brand Stout 2025

Flashlight shows absolutely nothing, no real head retention to speak of, smells of bourbon, chocolate, and toasted dark wheat bread. The taste is rich and smooth, with flavors of chocolate, coffee, cherry, and cola on a silky smooth full body. The finish is long and moderately bitter, featuring notes of dark chocolate, black coffee, smoke, bourbon barrel, and vanilla. Overall, this is very intense base stout this year, seems boozier in smell and flavor but I can’t place specific flavors other than the wood in the finish; it has a tiny bit of throat burn as well. I can’t wait to taste this one again in 5 years after it mellows out!
