Flashlight shows just the slightest hint of a deep, dark, blood red ruby hue with minimal head retention; smells of caramel, black cherry, and vanilla. The taste is rich and lightly sweet with flavors of milk chocolate, caramel, fig, cherry, raisin, vanilla, and coffee on a smooth full body. The finish is long and moderately low in bitterness, featuring notes of dark chocolate, espresso, smoke, charred oak, and a hint of booziness that lingers into a dull burn on the tongue. Overall, it’s a fantastic barrel aged stout, but not the best Bourbon County I’ve had. This would most certainly age well and mellow out a bit, but I already have a couple aging that I like from the start.
