Flashlight shows not even a hint of light, no head retention, smells of bourbon, caramel, and port wine. The taste is sweet and smoky with hints of chocolate, caramel, coffee, and char; body is full and velvety smooth. The finish is long, warm, and low to moderate in bitterness, with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, herbal hops and oak. Overall, this is an excellent rendition of a barrel aged stout. This is my first time tasting it, so I can’t say how well it has aged, but I can say that it is delicious and as smooth as it is complex. An excellent candidate for further aging.
