No flashlight, no head, smells of fig, leather, and pipe tobacco. The taste is rich and chocolatey with flavors of chocolate milk, cordial cherries, oak, caramel, and smoke on a smooth and full body. The finish is long and moderately bitter, featuring notes of charred oak, dark chocolate, espresso, herbal hops, vanilla, and forest floor. Overall, this is blissfully good. I chose this vintage to age because it already stood out among recent years, and admittedly it had already aged 3 years in the bottle at that point, but I do feel it has improved since then. It’s just so smooth and mellowed yet still bold and has developed some completely new flavors along the way, truly a rewarding experience and I look forward to exploring more aging projects.
