Flashlight shows just the slightest hint of a deep burgundy hue, head retention is minimal, smells of toffee, caramel, and vanilla. The taste is smooth and decadent, with a light sweetness and flavors of salted caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, maple syrup, Irish cream, cappuccino and soft smoke on a syrupy, creamy, and full body. The finish is long and moderately low in bitterness, featuring notes of dark chocolate, caramel, black cherry, toasted oak, bourbon, smoke, and herbal hops that slowly fade into a pleasant warmth on the palate. Overall, this is very good, possibly the best Bourbon County Stout I’ve had, but unfortunately for the price (and rarity) I don’t think I’ll be grabbing another to age, although I very much would like to.
