Flashlight fails to show through the glass, no head retention at all, smells of chocolate, oak, and freshly cracked pecan shells. The taste is rich and decadent with flavors of chocolate syrup, pecan sandies, and heavy cream on a soft, smooth, dense, and almost chewy extra full body. The finish is long and moderately high in bitterness, featuring notes of dark chocolate, charred oak, herbal hops, bourbon, vanilla, and a hint of coffee. Overall, this is an interesting one, the pecan flavors accentuate the oak flavors, leading to a dry and woody character throughout, while the dark chocolate teams up with the hops to add an extra note of bitterness; the end result is not unlike an apéritif.
