The legendary barrel aged stout, apparently the name used to stand for Kentucky Breakfast Stout, but the brewery now intentionally uses the more obfuscated initialism in all marketing. Flashlight shows no light at all, head retention is decent. Smells of raisin, plum, and rum; very inviting. Taste is very bold: toasted bread, smoke, coffee, chocolate, and a warm, fruity booziness all come together into an incredibly complex blend of flavors with a medium body. The hopping is subtle here, mostly herbal and low in bitterness, instead the residual flavors of the yeast and alcohols instead take lead role in the finish, all balanced to perfection. Overall, if you like bold, audacious, dark, barrel aged beer, then yes, this is worth all the hype, and reasonably priced for the style.
