I review the beers I drink

Dogfish Head – Mixed Media

A “vino-esque ale” brewed with 49% grape must and 51% grains to be as close to wine as possible, while still being a beer; very excited!

Crystal clear with a thin yet resilient head, smells like a cross between a Sauvignon Blanc and a Kölsch, very intriguing. The taste is semi-sweet and somewhat reminiscent of a Belgian blonde ale, wih the same soft almost velvety mouthfeel, and a light, fruity white wine underneath. The finish is moderate in duration, and low to moderate in bitterness, with notes of dry wine tannins and some residual sugars, perhaps a flash of herbal hops, but very subdued. Overall, a very cool beer, the end effect is like a Belgian blonde mixed with a dry, mildly acidic white wine. Definitely unique and something I could see myself coming back to just to shake things up.
