I review the beers I drink

Dogfish Head – Liquid Truth Serum

An IPA with 100% post-boil hops. These have been called “0 IBU” beers because of the theory that hop bitterness can only be infused during the boil. The can itself in this case plainly states that is a myth, so I’m excited to see what DFH came up with here.

Moderately hazy with excellent head retention, smells of mango and citrus, with a subtle breadiness underneath. The taste is very mild for an IPA, the juicy fruitiness of the hops much more prominent than usual with a crisp malt bill and a slick medium body. The finish is long and moderate to high in bitterness, with notes of pine resin, citrus peel, and herbal hops. Overall an interesting IPA, up front the sweeter hop flavors show up but with very little bitterness; the finish however is a standard IPA experience.
