An intriguing brown ale/IPA hybrid I haven’t gotten around to trying yet, it’s clear with a deep mahogany color, and minimal head retention. The smell is of roasted nuts, toasted bread and a very faint happiness underneath. Taste is a crisp, clean malt flavor with hints of nuttiness and smokyness. Next, the smooth medium body sets the stage for the moderately bitter, dry finish with a dull piney character and some residual roastiness from the malts. Overall, not as hoppy as I expected, but this isn’t a bad thing. The beer is perfectly balanced and layered with so much complexity that identifying any one flavor requires several sips. It’s kinda like an English IPA, but with a darker, beefier, nuttier malt profile; damn tasty!
