I review the beers I drink

Colombo – V.Q.P.R.D. Dry Fine Marsala DOC NV(Marsala)

V.Q.P.R.D. stands for “Vino di Qualità Prodotto in Regioni Determinate” essentially the same thing as Denominazione di Origine Controllata on the label; Fine means it has been aged at least one year.

Pours a reddish amber hue reminiscent of Brunello, smells of almond, pistachio, and parmesan cheese. The taste is rich and lightly sweet with flavors of apple, cherry, and caramel on a tannin free medium body. The finish is long and dry with a very low acidity, featuring notes of fig, raisin, roasted malts, cashew butter, and a touch of brown sugar. Overall this is a surprisingly complex wine, it has a little bite to it but the finish is very long and transitively nuanced.

ABV:18%
IBU:
Malts:Made with Inzolia, Cataratto, Grillo grapes
Other:After vinification "Alcohol, mistella (fresh grape must with added alcohol) and mosto cotto (concentrated fresh grape must which is traditionally “cooked” until it reduces to a third of its original volume) are then added to the base wine." The wine is then "aged for over 2 years (minimum 1 by law) in Slavonian oak barrels."
Yeast:Wine
