Like I said, lots of discount beer at work. This is a “Belgo-American Ale” that pours hazy with very fine particles suspended in it, but you really have to look closely to notice them; head retention is decent. Smells of citrusy hops and funky Belgian yeast… intriguing. The taste is semi-sweet with fruity and spicy notes of banana, clove, and a hint a grapefruit with a smooth, creamy body. The finish is citrusy and spicy, with a low to moderate bitterness; notes of pepper and citrus peel. Overall, I was skeptical of the name, but I really like it. It’s a cross between a Belgian golden ale and a NE-style IPA, the flavor belies the respectable ABV, and it’s quite sessionable.
