I review the beers I drink

Brouwerij Van Steenberge – Piraat Belgian Ale

Moderately hazy and murky with light head retention, smells of lactic acid and raspberry. The taste is crisp and spicy with flavors of toasted bread, white pepper, pear, and green apple on an effervescent full body. The finish is long and moderately high in bitterness, featuring notes of apricot, grapefruit, lemon zest and herbal hops. Overall, this is a very bold and hoppy Belgian, but the characteristic yeast notes provide contrast while the malts add body and a touch of sweetness; an ideal beer to sip slow and let warm in the glass.
