So I have to say up front, this bottle is a little over 12 years old, so it may not be the best representation of this beer, I found it for sale and decided to take a chance.
Lightly hazy with minimal head retention, smells of cherries, chocolate, and grape leaves. The taste is sweet and tart with flavors of black cherry, maraschino liqueur, and green apple on a soft medium body. The finish is long and moderately acidic, featuring notes of sour cherry, raspberry, cranberry, and lime with just a hint of oak. Overall, this is quite good! It’s more intense than the Grand Cru, both in sweetness and acidity, but the balance remains impeccable and the cherries add levels of complexity throughout. Definitely try this one if you see it! Currently the #2 Flanders Red Ale in the world on BeerAdvocate!
