I review the beers I drink

Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen – Oude Geuze

“For this specific Oude Geuze, we blended lambikken from four different barrels and ten different brews. The lambikken were brewed by Lindemans for one half and the other half by ourselves. Half of the lambikken is two years old, and a small portion even four years old. This renders the weighted average age of the blend upon bottling to almost 21 months.”

Moderately hazy with minimal head retention, smells of vinegar, lemon, and grapefruit. The taste is tart and dry with flavors of key lime, lemon, and yuzu on a light body. The finish is long extremely tart with just a touch of bitterness underneath, and featuring notes of grapefruit zest, lime peel, coriander, and subtle oak. Overall this beer is far too sour for my palate, I can sense a complexity to it with a nice variety of citrus flavors and the oak adds a nice touch in the finish, but the bracing acidity makes it physically uncomfortable to drink.
