So this is a beer I’ve had on a few rare occasions before, I even reviewed the 2017 vintage a few years back, but this is one of my all time favorite beers, AND I actually managed to find a 4 pack of it this time, so I’m going to set aside a bottle to age and see just how much it develops.
Clear with no head retention, smells of malty wort, caramel, and a touch of alcohol. The taste is smooth and sweet with flavors of vanilla cream, salted caramel, Brunello and Sweet Marsala on a lusciously soft and creamy full body. The finish is long and moderately bitter, featuring notes of caramel, honey, toffee, vanilla, soft oak, and a hint of herbal hops. Overall this beer is just so decadent, so smooth, so flavorful that my words my never accurately describe it in all its detail. An even bigger challenge awaits me when I crack this bottle’s twin after many years…
