Angry Orchard – Orchard’s Edge: The Old Fashioned

An attempt to recreate in a cider the classic “Old Fashioned” cocktail. Clear with no head, smells of dry apples with subtle cherry and citrus notes. The taste is bright and sweet apple, with a subtle fruitiness from the cherry and orange peel and a light effervescence. The finish is semi-dry with a very subtle tartness and a smoky bourbon quality that add complexity. Overall, this is a very good cider, balanced, sessionable, and delightfully complex, to a level rarely seen in ciders.
