I review the beers I drink

Surly – Damien, Child of Darkness

Apparently made with the “usually discarded remnants of Darkness” but with no further clarification on the label or website. Flashlight shows a deep ruby color and head retention is moderate. Smell is fruity and dark, notes of cherries and chocolate. Taste is dry and smoky with a slight acidity akin to coffee, with a medium mouthfeel. The finish is also dry and smoky with a moderate bitterness and notes of dark chocolate and pine. Overall, less intense overall, but hoppier and dryer than Darkness; still a great bottle to pick up for something different.
