Flashlight shows a deep, hazy mahogany color with light head retention. Smells of faint fruits, fig or cherry, with a bacony note underneath. This is NOT what I expected to smell, but I’m still very interested in where this is going. Taste is a biscuity malt base to a strong, but not overly so, coffee flavor that develops a fruity mid-palate component as the full body passes over it, and the beer sums it all up with a roasty dry herbal hop finish. Not sure why the smell was so weird on this one, but this is a very good porter with a unique flavor profile that adds layers of complexity.
