White Birch Brewing in Hooksett, NH. Flashlight shows a deep ruby color, with outstanding head retention. Smells of coffee, with a little smoky, almost meaty campfire aroma underneath, very enticing. Silky smooth, creamy mouthfeel is the first thing I notice, matched with a sweet cream flavor that is intermingled with a roasty bitter coffee and mellow hops character that is quite sublime. The beer leaves the palate with a warm, dry finish that is somewhat reminiscent of a rauchbier. All in all, this is a world-class porter; if you see it, try it!
