The only DOCG wine from Sicily, this is a blend of Nero D’Avola and Frappato. Smells of plum, blackberry, and forest floor. The taste is fruity and bold with flavors of plum, sour cherry, blackberry, strawberry, and a distinct brininess on a soft, minimally astringent light body. The finish is long and mostly dry with a moderate acidity, featuring notes of raspberry, dark chocolate, oak, rhubarb, and residual brine. Overall it’s a nice blend of the fruitiness of Nero D’Avola and the tannin structure of Frappato with a unique terroir that makes it a must try wine and a definite highlight of Sicilian wine.
