A red from the Taurasi DOC in Campania, smells of plum, blackberry, and cherry. The taste is bright and jammy with flavors of cherry, plum, fig, blackberry, and black grapes on a light, mildly astringent body. The finish is long and dry with a moderately low acidity, featuring notes of dark chocolate covered cherries, raspberry jam, rhubarb, forest floor, and soft oak. Overall, it’s a lovely and approachable red that’s surprisingly lovely for it’s age, and the judicious use of oak here is surprisingly nice, adding depth but not upstaging the grapes. A fantastic wine for $20.
