As I near the end of my sub journey through Tuscan wines, I have two final “Super Tuscans” to review; made with the intention of showcasing Tuscan terroir through foreign grape varietals, this one is Cabernet Sauvignon dominant, supplemented with Sangiovese.
A deep purpled crimson hue, smells of rose, strawberry jam, and a hint of lavender. The taste is bold and intense with flavors of cherry, plum, strawberry, and fig on a softly astringent full body. The finish is long and dry with a low acidity and alcoholic warmth, featuring notes of dark chocolate, English hops, black coffee, and forest floor. Overall this is an absolutely fantastic wine, bursting with layers of flavor but well structured and somehow soft throughout. Worth every penny of $30.
