Perhaps the most well known Umbrian wine, Orvieto; here an Orvieto Classico meaning the grapes came from the original or “classic” growing zone. Smells of pear, green apple, and strawberry. The taste is crisp and fruity with flavors of green apple, pear, white grape juice, and honey on a light body. The finish is long and low in bitterness but fairly acidic, featuring notes of rhubarb, lime, raspberry, grape leaves, and a soft minerality. Overall I quite like this one, it’s fruity and bright but balanced and with a crisp dry finish. Worth every penny of the $17 I paid.
